I quickly discovered last night that I cannot skip at all, thanks to Lisa…

Anyone got any tips or hints on how to skip properly. I think I am jumping all wrong as the rope either hits the back of my head or the front of my legs after a jump or two!!! I was completely useless!!

Oh crikey James, Please not skipping…I hate it honestly I just do not have the co ordination for it..id suggest not trying to hop on both feet but one foot at a time, similar to “shaking it out”  If you see what I mean..this is how I have been able to cope with it..
it looks daft but gets the result, oh and most important…KEEP PRACTICING

Lisa,s skipping is hard hard work and something i just cant get the hang of but as Mark says practice and one foot bounce is easier. Avoid at all costs lol

hI jAMES GLAD YOU ENJOYED IT LOL
I FIND IT IS EASIER IF YOU SORT OF PRATICE RUNING ON THE SPOT ONLY WITH A ROPE.
I COULD’NT DO IT AT FIRST BUT I USED TO GO OUT AND PRACTICE IN THE GARDEN WITH MY KIDS AND SOON I STARTED TO ENJOY IT.
I THOUGHT YOU WHERE GOING TO CURSE ME ON THE SIT-UPS LOL

If I had a garden I would.. only a backyard, which is solely my dogs domain!! lol

But yeah, I’ll find some space to practice, always plenty of room at my local gym aswell I can give it a go.

Oddly enough, I didn’t find the sit ups as bad as I thought when we started them!! Being hooked in nice and tight did help… although this doesn’t mean we necessarily need to do anymore….

Skippings easy James once you get the hang of it. Here at home I try to do at least 500 per day - 100 per set and in different variations. Backwards skipping is harder though.

Hmmm tips..

Well tuck your elbows to your sides and with the rope slowly practice the swinging motion. Feet together. Stay straight and balanced as leaning forward will get the rope caught in your feet.

Start off by doing one at each time until you can do 10 in a row. Keep doing sets of 10 until you build your confidence.

Relax as well as when your tense or annoyed you’ll make a mistake. Just try and get into a rhythm.

Once you get the basis of it then practice going faster. It’ll take a while though so doing expect to be doing 100 in 30 seconds.

Running and skipping is a good one too. Me thinks I’m probably faster doing that than my normal run lol

Oh and I’d recommend buying a leather skipping rope like my Everlast one.. You soon learn not to make a mistake lol

Lol i’ll have a good giggle then Mark j/k

Seriously though everyone makes mistakes, I’ve been practising skipping most of my life and I still get tangled in the rope.

As long as you try it, your good.

Think I’ll stick to a rope made of something a little more comfortable!!
