roundhouse advice

Can anyone give me some advice when doing the take through roundhouse kick i cant seem to get the kick “round” i kick to the side when taking it through???

if you pretend that you are basically kicking through an opponent in front of you it will help.  but you basically want to bring the kick up keep it out and follow it through and place it behind you if its your left then switch back, and if its your right then just bring it round and place it to the back, no need to switch.  does that make sense??
