A grading is when KickBoxing students, non-contact and contact, are assessed through a series of levels / grades, with the base level being White Belt, through ten levels, finally reaching a Dan grade at black belt, which is equivalent, if you like, to a degree level in KickBoxing. This type of achievement would take, on average, between six and eight years.

Kickboxing Boot Camp - No.5 - Day 5
Day 5 - The final day Hooray of week number 5 of this years boot camp.
Boot camp has been starting at 6am since its inception. Occasionally there have been some earlier starts but it needs to be confirmed on the website or in front of the whole class. The reason this is being stated is because yesterday Luke turned up at 5am (hope you done some laps Luke) and today Gareth Miller and Chris Cullen were there from 4.45am. Eager Beavers that they are. Unfortunately they sat in their cars for the next hour and didn't move.
There was some talk of a 5am boot camp but that's all it was 'talk'. It is in black and white now - Next Tuesday and Friday Boot Camp starts at 5am. 2 days that's all. So if you want to come every day that is entirely up to you.
There was euphoria at the boot camp this morning most likely because it was the last day.
Some have said that it has been the toughest Boot Camp to date, for sure today was very tough. 4 rounds of sprints - today's star of the sprints was Mark Bird.
Quite a few on the missing list with nine failing to turn up.
All in all very well done to everyone.
Looking forward to a 2 day boot camp next week.
Day 4 - The morning started with the phone red hot with wannabe's making excuses as to why they couldn't attend. The last call to come in was 5.50am Will Greenham's lift never turned up, I wonder who that was Mr Adrian Murphy (the new one).
Will informed ProKick that he may be late but was about to get a taxi, the Master Masterson jumped in to save the day by collecting Greenham and taking him to the gym. So all you boot campers who's cars don't start and alarms don't go off and what ever other excuse you can think of, fear not the Master will come to your rescue. He will start a pick up service right from your door. And if your alarm doesn't go off you'll soon be woken up by the banging on the door.
There was 17 at the Boot Camp, quite a nose dive from the original 32. Don't turn up without your fines in hand, and if you don't turn up then that's another fine to add on.
It was circuits today but there was still a lot of confusion as to what station to go to next - it's pretty simple, look at who is in front of you and then follow them. Amidst the confusion laps were handed out 10 to the dozen. After a total mess up in the circuit everyone was thrown out, yes folks the whole class was thrown out. A sprint was next and Chris Cullen was the fastest of the day.
Lets hope the final day brings a new lease of life to the campers.
Day 3 - Young David Bird was still on the missing list and still ill. Get well soon David.
5 other fighters on the missing list today (well wannabe fighters) if they were real fighters they would have been here no matter what.
Sprints were back in force with some good times. But not for Mark Bird, he phoned ten minutes beofre camp and said his daddy didn't put any petrol in the car and there was no petrol stations open. £10 fine Mark.
David Surgenor also phoned to say that his car was frozen and wouldn't start. may have been frozen last week but thisweek it is a bit milder so we're not sure on that excuse, so said Mr Masterson. Bring your tenner with you tomorrow.
There was a few whingers and a lot of confused people over exercises which resulted in a lot of punishment laps. The Masterson was in foul form.
Let's hope Thursday brings love and harmony back to the boot camp.
Day 2 - 24 Boot campers turned up. some of our no shows from yesterday turned-in, however, another 4 were on the missing list. Will-I-am phoned - his lift was no where in sight - wonder who that was Adrian! And to be fair on Mr Murphry he looked unwell at Monday's Camp. The Machine ...David Bird was off sick too - well-done for calling in the night before young Mr Bird.
Back to all the boys and girls who did find the strength combined with a touch of insanity for turning up - they all worked very had today even our new beginners to Boot Camp. Second day and still no sprints, too icy on the roads. The Master wanted 4 laps of sprints but later he realised it was dangerous, he capitulated. Beware major sprints are on the cards!
Day 1 - 24 recruits turned up for this mornings boot camp however there was 5 of the Next generation signees on the missing list.
It was a cold morning so no sprints today hopefully that will be made up tomorrow.
We promise – by the end of a Boot Camp week you will feel invincible. You will wonder why others around you can be so gloom.
You are invited to join our students, up-and-coming fighters and veterans to hit the ground running – literally.
Legendary coach Billy Murray says: “There’s nothing quite like breaking sweat as dawn is breaking. You are one step ahead of everything and everyone for the rest of the day. By the end of the week, when you see the results, you will want more.”

James Toney To Enter UFC
Sources close to James Toney say the boxer has recently been signed to a multi-fight contract with the UFC.
'Lights Out' is a former professional middleweight, super-middleweight, and cruiserweight boxing champion, while currently being listed as the active NABO and IBA heavyweight title holder.
Toney’s professional boxing record currently stands at 72 victories with only 6 defeats, with 3 draws and 2 no-contests. James has won 44 of his 72 victims by-way of KO an impressive 61% knockout ratio.
There is no news currently available as to when Toney will be making his debut in the octagon.
We'll keep you up to date on development as they happen.
No Jess, Stuart Back In Title Tilt
Stuart will face local man, Terence Ciliawho fights at 73kg and stands 170cm- the title match is made at 72.6kg.
Cilia has an impressive 80% win ratio to Jess' 60%. However win ratio is not a big deal said Jess's coach:
"It would not matter if the opposition had a 100% wins that one faces, what does matter to me is that I know Stuart has faced a higher caliber of fighters from across the world and has been in about 7 championship bouts."
Murray added, Stuart lost last time out by-way of a heavy KO when he lost his European Full-Contact title! He still has the hunger to fight and has not let up in his training and when one of my fighters ticks all the boxes regardless of their level I will continue to support them providing they are certified medically fit!"
"Stuart may not be one of the most gifted fighters I've ever had the honour of teaching and looking after but he has more heart and fight in the belly than most fighters will ever have! Billy Murray.

Strikeforce Add Another Big Name
“As promised I wanted to tell you all first hand, I have a multi-fight deal for the next 16 months with Strikeforce and I cannot wait to get into the ring and show the world what I have been working on the last few months,” he stated.
Arlvoski hasn’t fought since back-to-back knockout losses in the first-round to Fedor Emelianenko in January 2009, and Brett Rogers in June 2009. Prior to the two defeats, he had compiled a five-fight win streak, which included victories over Fabricio Werdum, Roy Nelson, and Ben Rothwell.
Hesdy Gerges Still On Course For Badr Hari In Amsterdam
However, heavyweight Gerges has attracted some great reviews of late and that was down to wins over K-1 regional tournament winners Ruslan Karaev and Paul Slowinski.
Let the truth be told, Gerges will need to have a dramatic improvement in performance to stand a chance of sharing the ring never mind beating Badr Hari. The Chakuriki fighter trained by Thom Harinck gets a chance to sharpen up and prove the critics wrong that it may have just been an off night when he faces Attila Karacs in Milan later this month.
Ashwin Balrak who fights out of (Team Perfect) has never fought in Japan on a K-1 event and despite having his 27th heavyweight match and now after a good match against Gerges its time that the fighting lawyer got some justice.

Advanced Beginners Kickboxing Course
Having some feedback from previous members ProKick staff found that an overwhelming 32% found themselves a bit lost as to what to do next. Others found holding pads and hitting pads a bit daunting - ProKick heads agreed that this can be daunting and have come up with a solution involving a more indepth introduction before attempting the next levels.
Here it is in black and white.
The advanced beginners course will briefly recap on what was learnt over the previous beginners course. It will then focus on teaching pad work, circuit training, fitness and further syllabus training into the 2nd level (Orange Belt).
On completion of this course members will automatically be eligble to grade subsequently moving into the yellow belt classes which are available twice a week.
To sign up to this course current beginner members will be given information and forms on their fifth week to complete or ifthey prefer they can resign up for a new beginners class.

McCloskey Wants a Date
Dunne and Dusted
Dunnes pinnacle was in March 2009 where he lifted the WBA Super Bantamweight world crown. Dunne faced off against WBA Super Bantamweight world champion Ricardo Cordoba in the O2 Arena, Dublin. This was the first world boxing championship fight in Dublin for 13 years.
Dunne went on to win in a thrilling fight knocking Cordoba out in the 11th round.
Unfortunately the Irish boxer lost his title to Thai fighter Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym by way of the WBA three knockdown rule in the third round of the fight.
Bernardhas said "After a lot of thought and reflection the time has finally come to bring my career as a professional boxer to an end.
"For the past 25 years boxing has been my life but now it is time for a fresh start. The easiest thing in the world would have been to climb through the ropes and fight again but honesty has always been very important to me and I am being honest to myself, to my family and to my supporters with this decision."
"To win a world title is something I will never forget and something I am so proud of and I would like to thank everyone who helped make that possible.
"This is a sad day for me and for my family but it is also an exciting day and a new start in my life, one I am really looking forward to."
ProKick would like to wish Dunne all the very best in the future whichever way he goes and a big congratulations to his promotoer Brian Peters of Dublin.

Prizefighter - Neil Sinclair
Both men were looking to land big bombs but many of the former British welterweight champion Sinclair punches fell short.
A head clash in the second round opened up a cut around Sinclair’s left eye but that didn’t stop him as the 36 year-old done his best work - Sinclair edged the second
It was down to who wanted it most in the final round and at the end the judges were divided. The Welshman Bradley Pryce was given the bout and moved into the next round on a split verdict of 29-28, 29-28, 28-29. Pryce victory was short lived in the semi-final clash with Prince Arron, Pryce was beaten on a unanimous decision.
Prince Arron went on to win the Prizefighter
Boot Camp Starts 6am - Day 5
DAY 5 - This was the final day - Out of the 32 kickers who started only 18 turned up for the last day of Boot Camp. The start of the morning was quite subdued, there were around ten who arrived 15 minutes early and in ten minues there wasn't one word exchanged except from the Master Masterson who seemed to be annoying everyone because he was cheerful Charlie.
Started the day off with a couple of rounds of shadow boxing to warm up then straight into roundhouse kick after roundhouse kick after roundhouse kick (and so on) on the pads. The entire session was spent on one kick. It was fast moving and some found it tough, no all did.
There was some wind blowing through the old prokick gym and it wasn't fresh air. At one stage Masterson stood up on the ring, screamed and then got back off.
All in all another good Boot Camp, all trained well, who finished that is! Pity there was so many on the missing list this week as they didn't get the beneift Boot Camp. A day here and a day there isn't really benneficial you will never feel the benefit or get into a rhythm for early morning training.
Next Boot Camp starts Monday 8th March to the 13th.
DAY 4 - There were 6 on the missing list for today's boot camp and there was 8 missing from the sparring last night. Is the training getting too tough?
Not for most and especially not for the machine and most hated man at boot camp (no not the Master Masterson) young David Bird. He was the instigator for the 4 sprints today, one after the other with less than a minute break and didn't you all do well. Not bad considering today was the first day of running after the bad weather all week.
Gary Fullerton hobbled in at 5.40am unfortunately couldn't compete today and was sidelined due to a low kick in sparring last night (very, very low indeed, an ankle injury) let's hope he is ok for tomorrow.
Mr Anderson emailed in - on the sick list. Bring your sick note in with the queens head on it.
Oh by the way guys whoever didn't turn up for sparring last night make sure you weigh in ten pound lighter next time your in.
Back to Boot Camp today was the penultimate day, the calm before the storm. Tomorrow brings sprints, fitness rounds and much, much more.
DAY 3 - Numbers dramatically down today as only 21 turned up out of a possible 32. First up a phonecall 10 minutes before we started, Davy Foster - one of his 4 kids are sick and Davy has also caught the bug, Get well soon, that's a tenner Davy.
Next was Will I Am who came in late, considering he gets a lift from Adrian Murphy who is also down sick for the third day, wow that's going to be an expensive boot Camp Adrian.
I was told off yesterday for spelling Turnball's name wrong. It wasn't me it was Brooke, but I will take the blame for it because she will probably say it was me. Oh yeah talking about Mr Turnball he came in 45 minutes late for boot camp to pay his fine, I looked at him he was like a drowned rat. (Guess what we didn't do any running today Adam. His excuse was... he didn't have one, sorry. (oops Brooke done it again - Turnbull)
No runs today all work inside the gym thanks to David Big Mouth Bird, it was a tough day. Must admit star of the day was his older brother Mark he was flying high, as was David.
Some say it was the toughest day yet, the weeks not finished yet.
DAY 2 Numbers up 3 from yesterday to 27 BUT...5 still missing. Well done Carl - two weeks ago McBlian underwent surgery for his shoulder the hard hitter was back at Boot Camp this morning. Well done Carl. By-the-way where is the gas man??No running again today Gary Fullerton give his expert opinion after doing a lap, " Too dangerous for sprints maybe okay for a couple of laps best leave it though and just harm everyone in the gym" You can all thank Mr Gary F for the non-stop pads today. Well done young David Bird star again today, and Andrew well done first time at Boot Camp you done well and partnered with Davy Foster another machine.double celebration today Neil Baxter 45 today and Adam TurnbUll hit a younger 35 years-young.
DAY 1 Monday the 22 Feb and it was an early and a cold start for the first day of No4 Boot Camp. Just started and there were 24 out of 32 turned up. First day and we're down eight prokickers, not a good start to the week, eh. No Runs of any kind today, too dangerous - the roads and footpaths that is - so all the trianing was in-doors this morning.Day 2 who will be on the missing list and who's the top trainer of the day,
King today was young David Bird he was moving at 100 miles-an-hour at every drill.
Day 2 - coming up :

Badr Hari Vs Hesdy Gerges Amsterdam Arena
Hesdy is not really well-known yet to the mainstream public and fight fans - however, he is the upcoming name in the heavyweight division.
Here's a bit of interesting information - Hesdy’s current trainer is Thom Harinck and the Chakuriki boss was also Badr Hari’s trainer 5 years ago.
Both Badr Hari and Hesdy Gerges are really looking forward to make this fight a complete match on May 29.
Birds Wings Clipped
There was concern in two camps – one in Murray’s that Mark was not ready and two from the Smith camp that even though Mark was two years older he may not be experienced enough to take on Toby Smith. It was just a misunderstanding right from the start over rules –
It wasn’t until we agreed to travel to Perth for the fight and I sent for confirmation and condition about the fight that the WKN and the Australian team stated it was under Full Muay-Thai. We tried to compromise to suit both teams but unfortunately it didn’t happen this time - and looking at all the factors and after hearing from Toby’s father I think it is for the best. Said Murray
Mr Smith from Perth Austrralia had this to say: "There seems to be some confusion as this is the first promotion WKN have sanctioned in Australia , I appreciate everything you are prepared to do for us. We only fight Muay Thai. Toby has just returned from Bangkok where he has been training since xmas and only just fought in Rajadamnerm stadium and defeated a fighter of 26yrs with well over 50 fights.
From my research I see you have a great gym and Mark looks extremely promising but after great discussions with my team we have decided it be in our best interest to stick with an opponent with a Thai style back ground as this is our chosen art and wish to continue on our path of fighting Thaiboxers once again.
I want to thank you so much for everthing you must have done to make this fight possible." Mr Smith added, "September could be a possibility for sure in the mean time maybe Mark can train in the clinch and have a couple of muay thai fights, please keep in touch with Marks progression if things are looking good we will bring you guys here in September, look forward to dealing with you in the future."
Good luck to Toby Smith and his team, we’ll keep you all informed about how he does and the top of the bill - John Wayne Parr and his challenge for the WKN world title in Perth on March 13th.

Van Damme In Real Fight
Thai media reported that the earlier story about a possible match between the 38-year-old Atlanta Olympic Games gold medalist and the 49-year-old Hollywood star has been confirmed after the two fighters signed a contract on December 29 in a Bangkok hotel.
The report said the match will use the muaythai format, although elbows will be disallowed at the request of Van Damme who is an actor and doesn’t want his face cut up or disfigured. Somluck will be paid just over $100,000 which does not include the income from broadcasting.
The Olympic gold medalist said “I thought he was of much larger stature. But when we were standing next to each other, he wasn’t any bigger than me. So, I’m confident now. I’m better in muaythai techniques and I will have fun kicking the star. However, I won’t be careless and will keep training myself.”
Rules; Van Damme apparently requested that the use of elbows be band during the bout. The reason given, was because he is an actor and does not want his face to get cut or bruised, Kamsing told Siamsport a Thailand Web-site.
Kamsing is a Thai boxer who won the featherweight gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Will it happen? have your say. > coming soon, what Billy Murray thinks of Van Damme, the man who failed to show in Belfast's kickboxing Mania in 1996

G’Day ProKickers
Just before we left we were talking with Mr Murray about Geraldine or myself eventually getting a small class together and passing on the ProKick message. Well I’m finally organised enough and have gotten together a little mob. We’ve been training weekly for about the last month, harking back to all the great yellow belt stuff that ProKick took us through way back in 2008.
I’m having a ball doing the instructing and we’ve just started on a bit of light pad work.
Anyway, I’ve attached a pic to let you know what the regulars look like (plus there are another couple who come and go).

Billy’s Boot Camp No.3 Day5 - 2010
Day 5 - Started with 5 on the missing list. Which is a shame as after doing the whole week, it is a disappointment not to do the final day. Well done to all who didn't miss a class this week at all nor where late and for those who did miss without prior arrangements - pay the levy required.
Davy Foster was man of the day with 2 consistent sprints at 2.04 and on top of that has lost 2.8 kilos which brings him down to 68 kilo. The loss brings him almost on target for a fight weight of 67kilo. Some are saying how did he lose nearly 3 kilo on a frame which carries a low body fat? Well the Boot Camp and the extra training that he's excelled himself in has done just that.
A great week of training by all who attended. Please note those who don't attend the boot camp will not compete on the Next generation event in April.
Tickets are on sale for the event from tonight.
Details of our next Bot Camp - Monday 22nd - Friday 26th. Any other ProKick members that wish to join can complete a form at reception.
For those who noted the Master Masterson has been subdued in his hollering this was due to a rib injury and any strain causes him pain. Poor him!
Day 4 - Thursday Feb 11th. Well no more piggybacks thank you very much, and where was the man who instigated them yesterday? (We’ll come back to him) At the start of today’s training most of the Campers looked as if they hit ‘ The Wall’ as they seemed underpowered. Were they just here in body and wish they were back in bed.
The only thing that was hard-ish at today’s BBC was the press-ups the rest seemed to be a doddle. The morning was spent on laps and one sprint and with no one failing to beat or match previous times it was an early finish to this the penultimate day of week No3 of Billy’s Boot Camp’!
Star of the day on sprints was 21 year-old Chris Cullen with a best time of 2:02.
Well done everyone who turned up on this cold and frosty morning. Which brings me aptly back to the missing in action – WILLIAMMMMM where were you? The most hated man in camp yesterday ( Joke not yet anyways) Thanks for the idea’s about Piggyback running in ‘bare feet’ will speak to the Master Masterson on that one, and if not too cold, could use that to finish tomorrow....if you’re there! Seven others were missing from today’s Boot Camp – names to follow.
The final day of No.3 Camp 2010 is at 6am Friday the 12th February......DONT be late!!
Day 3 - Wednesday Feb 10th. Today was a milestone at Boot Camp as all the Kickers kicked high with ALL beating their personal sprint times..Well done everyone. Star of the day on sprints was 19 year-old Mark Bird with a best time of 1:58.
Tough floor work and then..... thanks to William for the idea of a Piggyback races around the block,GREAT STUFF.Sorry to disappoint Will, but we have done that before but we're glad you mentioned it and yes 2 laps tomorrow. We've never done that, so thanks! Winners of the piggyback race was Andrew and David in under 5 minutes. Three on the missing list - come on Gilbert get back tomorrow and finish the rest of the week. No one late today.
Day 2 – four on the missing list this morning including Gilbert Yates who’s one day show at the boot camp must have been too much, come on Gilbert get back tomorrow. It was sit ups and piggybacks today as the boot campers started to get into full stride. Last night Mr Murray was informed that Mary Patterson was withdrawing from the Next Generation event due to health issues,( Get well soon Mary) That makes a total of 4 who have dropped out so far. Hopefully they will get another shot in the future to fulfil their ambition of climbing into the ring.
Anyway back to the boot camp – just 5 didn’t beat their sprint times today in the sprints. Rocki Desi and Gary Fullerton were thrown out for talking too much – Gary said it was Desi’s fault however both blamed it on Vikki for smiling, prompting them to ask her what she was smiling at resulting in both being thrown out to run laps.Yes if you are thinking about doing boot camp remember it is strict.
Ernest Bickerstaff was back in action after 'Holding his hands up and saying 'no excuse, sorry!... for missing Monday’s boot camp.Gareth Millar was back in action after he too missed Mondays camp, he just smiled - I think M & M will have the last smile Gareth.
Good luck to fighter Karl McBlain who is in hospital today for an operation on his shoulder in an unrelated injury to kickboxing. We all wish him well and hope to see him back at boot camp soon.
32 in attendance
Day 1 - training was tough on the first opening day of number three boot camp, sprints were the order of the day and only 3 out of 32 beat their sprints times and were excused of the final lap around the gym. 7 of the next generation competitors failed to show with 2 coming in late. Greig Anderson was 1 minute late and yes folks he actually made this boot camp today even though he was 7 minutes late, Gilbert Yates, 4 boot camps later and he makes and appearance, the old saying better late than never,
6 new starts attended the boot camp for the first time, lets hope they stick it out.

Rocky Balboa
The elder statesman of the Prokick Gym, says Hollywood’s much-loved boxing hero could learn a few tricks from him.
Rocky Desi Macartney is a Kickboxing mad Grandfather, “That Rocky fella doesn’t know what real training is,” said the confident grandfather. “I’m have been out on the roads every morning for years at 6am with Billy Murray and that’s before I go to work. When my work is done I go back to the gym and spar with fighters half my age and even younger.
"If Rocky Balboa thinks he is battling with mid-life crisis, he ain’t got nothing on me!”
Happy Birthday Desi from all of us here at ProKick
Boot Camp Week 2 Day 5
DAY 5 - The Final day of Week 2
The final day started like any other day at an Extreme 'Boot Camp' - Full-Throttle, the high-kickers were informed they were expected to beat they're personal sprint times and 22 for the 28 who turned up, did just that! After the shocker and heart rates through the roof the pace was set for the rest of the cold and damp morning at Camp.
However, temperatures were high inside the rickety old but practical gym. Fast punching work, Floor work, laps of the Gym, and another chance for those who didn't beat their sprint times to do just that.
Disappointments, Stephen Houston missing for a second day after stating he would attend after he missed Thursday, Boot Camp. No shows again from Alex McGreevy, Nula Ward, David Hunsdale and Stuart Boyd.
Mary Patterson turned up 30 mins late whilst Johnny Smith (The Gas Man) was 15 mins late.
Well done to all the injured kickers who battle through the pain barrier to attend, Andrew McLaughlin, Gary Fullerton, Alister Porteous and Mark Bird.
Over all a very good Boot Camp for the second time this year with a few surprises along the way.
Bring on Week 3 starting Monday 8th-to-12th February 2010

DAY 4 - The penultimate day of the second Boot Camp of 2010 had a few surprises - 7 were missing the action with excuses from sore shoulders, sore knees, sore back to no excuse slept in.
Named and shamed are Stephen Houston, Darren McMullen, Mary Patterson, Andrew McLaughlin, Alex McGreevy, Chris Cullen and Stuart Boyd.
The order of the day was circuit training and explosive pad work. The sprint laps today were a disaster with only one third of the camp matching or beating their times unlike yesterday every person beat their time.
Get ready for Friday the final day and don't worry it will be just as easy as the rest of the week, with a few surprises thrown in.
Team members with sore legs, back, shoulders etc be there for alternative exercising.
DAY 3 - Two days is a row all 31 fitness mad fanatics beat or matched their speed laps yet again. The star of the day was young Mark Bird who broke the 2 minute lap by coming in at 1.59. Young David Bird was excused a days training and was told to rest as he has a championship cross country race this afternoon but the young enthusiast refused to let brother Mark come on his own and didnt want to miss out in any of the drills.
Boot Camp worked exceptionally hard said Mr M & M. The intensity that the group displayed was tremendous lets hope they keep it up for the rest of the week.
Missing in action was - Alex McGreevy, Who was missing for a third day after stating on Tuesday night he would be back first thing Wednesday morning, dissapointing. Jim Weir missing for a second day along with Stuart Boyd who hasn't turned in all week without contacting the gym. Nuala Ward failed to show for the second time this week. First day she was working late but no excuse this time.
DAY 2 - and already the bar was raised with a slight change and step up in training as the ProKick team all hit gold in their spints. The early morning kickers stepped up their running with each member beating their sprint time from yesterday. Quickly followed by floor work, circuit training and fast explosive bxing work. The morning was finished off with some feeling slightly dizzy as they experienced equilibrium training.Prokick style equilibrium training. Asymmetrical equilibrium training minimizes the proprioceptive input, emphasizing the role of the biomechanical component in postural regulation.Which in Laymans terms - means to help deal with recovery from a knockdown blow or any imbalance in the ring.
Amongst the missing - Stuart Boyd for a second day with no explanation, along with Alex McGreevy - until the afternoon Mr McGreevy reported in and informed Murrayatchi 'he will be back' ...Tomorrow! Tough, £20 fine each. Jim Weir was missing too. John Gillespie has pulled out (work commitments). Our new heavyweight Ernest Bickerstaff, and our new female up-n-coming star Nuala Ward were both back. (Fined as well). Nuala was also late, along with Will Greenham- (Fined)33 brave recruits braved the cold weather on Tuesday
DAY.1
Amongst the missing - Stuart Boyd, with no explanation, Alex McGreevy with more than explanation about every injury he's ever had (joke), Mark Braniff who is now out with a shoulder injury. John Gillespie who has been missing from action all last week. Our new heavyweight Ernest Bickerstaff, and our new female up-n-coming star Nuala Ward.
Non competitors missing Lisa McAlees and Mark Winter (too much time spent on the forum and chatbox you two).Gilbert Yates failed to show yet again as did two other advanced beginners, names to follow.
Late today was Sam Lewis.
Lets see what the rest of the week brings. By the way just 4 people beat their times today.
31 Turned up on Monday for 'Billy's Boot Camp'

Bird flies south
Diego is no stranger to Northern Irish fight fans as the Swiss fighter appeared on the Brawl on the Wall event in September 2007 where he stopped ProKick’s Robert McNeill on the first round.
Since then Diego has been honing his skills and now he is gunning for Mark Bird.
The only stumbling block to stop the fight from happening is the weight, Bird is sitting at 67 kilo whilst Diego is 4 kilo lighter at 63.
Check out Diego and McNeill
in the Highlight Video of the Brawl on the Wall
Negotiations are currently going on to try and make the match happen on Jerome Le Banners first promoted WKN event.

Plans are in placeto make this a monthly event, added Stevie.

Boot Camp Day 5
Day 5 - Final day of Boot Camp, it was much of the same, an intense workout so early in the morning. Timed sprints where on the agenda, one problem though - if the kickboxers didn't beat their times from the start of the week they had to run between 3 or 5 laps. The upside was that the majority beat their times, some by just seconds however top scorer was Jim Weir who beat his time by taking 30 seconds from his original time 4 days earlier.
Downside today nine ProKickers missed the final Boot Camp. Good thing for the club though but not for them as fines are incurred.
Well done to all who took part. Our next boot camp starts Monday 25th, book your place now.
Day 4 - Penultimate day of this weeks Boot Camp - there was four on the missing list and one late... Mr McGreevy our blogger. Today was the toughest one to-date the camp started very light with a little stretching then it was non-stop action, that much that police and Fire Brigade blocked off roads in and out around the gym. Check out Alex McGreevy's blog.
Day 3 - Day three in the sweat house and it was all thanks to THE GAS MAN why it was so hot! ...here's Johnny, it was his fault the gym was so warm today as the fitness mad fanatics continued. 31 in attendance but 4 missing.
Day 2 - at Boot Camp - It was the 2nd day of Billy's Boot Camp - no one late, three missing and three new kickers total 33
Day 1 - Prokick Kickboxing club's latest wannabe fighters and fitness mad kickboxers hit the streets of Belfast in the dark, chilling, winds and wet morning. The second day was a suspected easy one with floor work circuit training, shadow-boxing and finishing with timed sprints.
6am in the not-so-bright open air; this is the type of thing that needs to be done if you want to become super FIT or compete in the ring.
The boot camp will run from Monday-to-Friday. Boot Camp will run week-on-week-off and will resume on Monday Jan 25th Jan
If you miss your weekly classes after attending the boot camp there will be a £5 penalty incurred. This is additional training and is not intended as a substitute for your normal classes.
We promise – by the end of a Boot Camp week you will feel invincible. You will wonder why others around you can be so gloom.
Billy's Boot Camp started Monday 11th Jan 2010
A Boot Campers Blog - day 5
Alex McGreevy's Blog
Boot Camp - Day 5, Jan 15Week one. All done.
Seven students missing. Wonder why?
Ankles sore - again. Body tender. Eyes stinging with tiredness. One more hour. One more. Let's do this.
There was certainly no reward (okay, there is, but you get my drift) for having made it to the final day - alive.
This one a tough class but - for me anyway - not as tough as Wednesday's super-hot session.
But oh, the Wilgar three-minute sprint lap was back.
Time to compare, eh, time. Those recorded on Monday's wet morning were tested in today's windy surrounds.
I beat Monday's first lap by one-second. I then beat Monday's second lap by seven seconds.
But that doesn't count - so says M&M, the evil coaches, Murray and Masterson.
"Nope, you gotta beat your first lap. Not then first then the second, the first all the time."
Bummer.
Anyway, did I mention I was almost 39...?
Well, a 2.34 lap wasn't so bad in that wind.
Next time, 2.33...
And, there will be a next time.
Everyone gets a lie-in tomorrow.
Me? Up for Alex Jnr's kid's class and a nice, quiet 4mile run while he's getting it in the ear from coach Murray.
Boot Camp, Day Four, Jan 14, 2010
A message to all residents of Dundela area who were woken by the screams of fire brigade sirens at 6.30 on Thursday morning.
That was my fault. Sorry.
Well, when I say fault, I mean, that was my public duty.
Thanks to a 'punishment' lap of Wilgar Street it was I who came across the whiff of gas-filled air outside the local primary school and at the risk of coach Murray wondering why it took me five minutes to do a three minute lap, I bypassed the Prokick Gym door and sprinted (yes, I did sprint) to the nearby police station to report my concern.
Within 10 minutes the area was sealed off and awake with flashing lights. Like I said, not my fault.
Anyway, all the drama took place halfway through Boot Camp and before the fire service arrived, there was time enough for coach Murray to take us all around for another lap - just to breath in the gas I reckon.
Feeling slightly woozy, we were then made to finish off the class with bursts of sprints up and down Wilgar Street.
A tough class - that I almost missed.
The 5.05am alarm did it's job. So too did the back-up 5.30am alarm. But today my eyes did not work. For some reason - possibly a severe lack of sleep - they just kept closing.
I realised they had closed again when they suddenly opened again to barely see that that time was 5.47am.
No!
I'm not gonna make it. Bugger. I've missed a class.
What's the point in going now?
I'll only arrive late and that will only give coach Murray and the evil one an excuse to barrack me in front of the other students and then they'll punish all the class for my misdemeanour and then the class will hate me...
I'll go back to sleep.
Dam, dam, dam. What's the point in going back to sleep?
Sure I have to get up in two hours to get the offsprings ready for school.
Bugger it, I'll just go, see if I can make it...
MADE IT...!
5.59am.
"You're late! You're late!" belts coach Murray.
What do I say?
No I'm not sure?
Sorry sure but the actual GMT is 5.59a, and therefore with 60 seconds to spare I have arrived safe and well for Boot Camp...?
I'll say nothing. Take the heat and get on with it (I wasn't late, sir!).
Ankles sore. Still.
One more class.
Whoever said , 'early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise'... got one thing right. I ain't seen anyone pay me for Boot Camp and this surely is only something crazy folk do...
Boot Camp, Day Three, Jan 13, 2010
SIX hours sleep.
Stayed in a hot bath as long as possible because for some reason the ankles are sore.
I know, that’ll be day one and two of Boot Camp causing them to swell and ache.
Tucked in. Out like a light.
Geez. I am awake. It’s 4.43am. Aggggh. I’m up before the alarm went off.
What’s happening to me?
Am I changing?
Am I too keen?
Am I mad?
I lie awake, wondering if the wind battering the window has brought with it rain or snow. It’s so toasty-warm in here.
I’ve got 20 minutes. Enjoy ‘em.
God no, it’s 5.30am.
I’ve slept in!
Go, go, go.
Made it with a minute to spare. Day Three.
“Sir, my ankles are hurting.”
“Ah, stop your crying, you’re here aren’t you… you are walking aren’t you.. Stop your crying.”
But the ankles are hurting - and it seems I’m not the only one on tender toes.
It’s cold - again. And it’s raining.
Indoor is as toasty as it was at home. Maybe hotter.
Too hot.
“This class is really going to heat you up,” said coach Murray with a smile he could only have borrowed from the evil one.
Day three was a blast - a hot one.
After an hour of intense circuit training, the class seemed to end as quickly as it has started. That’s not to say it was fun, mind.
That’s three days done. Two to go.
Bleeding ankles are sore though.
Boot Camp, Day Two, Jan 12, 2010
Ahhh. Now that’s a nice cup of coffee.
A bit odd that I’m drinking in my car at 5.45am, waiting for ‘til the last moment before stepping out into the cold for day two of Boot Camp on Wilgar Street - but nice coffee nonetheless.
It’s not so bad today. Fresh and dry but that howling wind seems to be picking up. Hope there’s no outdoor running involved then….
Warm up. Breath.
Outside.
“Find a partner,” howls coach Murray… “someone your own size”.
Found one.
“Right, group one, follow Mark for a run. Group two, piggy-backs to the top of the street.”
My partner, thankfully, is lighter than I. He’s carrying 10stone. I’m carrying his 9 1/2stone.
Easy.
Easy that was until reaching the peak where the sudden and sapping weight gain almost broke my spine - sure, of course, it was coach Murray leaning on me too.
Day two is much tougher. The cracked metatarsal in my left foot - from kicking an elbow when I should have been looking a few weeks back - is starting to play up. Annoying.
“Okay, group two - off on your run.”
And off we go. The Strandtown police must think the looney school has broken out as we bypass the station and into the face of the gathering storm.
A few minutes later and it’s a sprint to the top of a hill. My God, it’s cold.
“Okay guys, shadow boxing at the cinema.”
Shadow boxing at the cinema? What must this look like to some poor soul on their way to work at 6.30am?
Is it not bad enough to be driving in this darkness to start a day’s work and then come across this sight?
Indoor again.
Punch drills. Easy, right?
Punch drills look easy - and the first round is. It’s the eighth, ninth and tenth that are not.
The howl comes around again: “Sprints. Push-ups. Star-jumps. C’mon. For 10, for 10. Sit-ups. Shadow. Sprints, sprints, sprints, c’mon, c’mon, c’mon.”
Take a bow.
Day two.
Your done.
Yes… yes, we are done.
Boot Camp, Day One, Jan 11, 2010
Is that rain or snow outside? Can't quite tell as it's pitch black, it's 5.06am and both my eyes are still half-closed.
Blast, it's sleet. Heavy sleet. And it's supported by a howling wind. Oh, let's go back to bed.
No, no. I must not. This is a committment and I must commit. I am not alone, I tell myself.
I am not the only fool slipping into training gear as quietly as possible so not to waken the kids - especially the youngest who once awake, never sleeps. Can't wake the missus either - or I'll never hear the end of it.
Ah, that coffee tastes good. Hot, strong. Just what the doctor ordered.
I sit alone in my car, both hands on the travelling coffee cup Santa so kindly delivered two weeks ago. Wilgar Street is dark, silent. In just over two hours this street housing Billy Murray's pauperish yet purposeful kickboxing gym will be bustling with traffic - the sound of running engines matched by the raucous, boisterious squeals emanating from a nearby school playground.
But for now, it's no-man's land.
A couple of people file into the club. It's time to go in. Time to face this thing they call Boot Camp. Time to begin the countdown to my first competitive kickboxing bout.
Oh, what am I doing here? I'm 39 this summer. I have two kids, a wife, a car and darn good job. I ran a marathon last year. Surely I have nothing more to prove?
C'mon. C'mon. Open the door. Get out of the car. C'mon.
We're in. We've started. We're halfway through. This is okay. Scratch that. This was okay... then coach Murray and his thoroughly evil sidekick coach Masterson tell us to don our running shoes.
My God, has the sleet stopped? What are they gonna make us do?
Sprints?
Seriously? Sprints at 6.30am. You're on something, right?
"If you can do three laps and beat your time on every lap, you will be fit to fight," said Mr Murray with frightening ease.
"You should be doing this in less than three minutes. Remember, three minute rounds is what you are preparing for."
Right, less than three minutes. Did I mention I was almost 39?
2:35. Not bad.
"Okay, well done," said coach Murray.
"Now off you go on a relaxing lap."
Cool, a relaxing lap.
It's day one. He mustn't be going to make us to three laps.
"Okay, take a breather. Right, lap two. Beat your time. Go!"
2.56. Buggered.
Third time round... third time round I'll be lucky to be around.
No third lap. Yes!
Back inside - to the cold.
"As this is day one, we are letting you off lightly. Make no mistake, nothing is light after today except your heads," we are assured by coach Masterson, who clearly enjoys his hate-figure role in proceedings.
Letting us off lightly...?
Don't think so.
The second half of the class is all-action circuit training before a knees-up wind-down.
It's over. It's over.
Is it okay to cry now... is it?
It's 7.15am.
The house is warm... welcoming.
Time for the school run. Time for work. Time for the normal daily chaos that is just so easy.
I have something to prove...
Murphy’s law
At the same time, Adrian Murphy, a long-term student of Prokick head coach Billy Murray, will aim to graduate with a black-belt in the sport.
Former four-time world champ Murray said: "It's not often to men with the same name attend the gym and find themselves at two extremes of the sport. The achievements of the more senior Murphy student will act as an inspiration to the 'new' Murphy student. He has been a hard-working member since joining Prokick and his family should be proud of him. It's a big challenge to step into the ring for the first time so soon after taking up the sport but Adrian's committment to achieve that aim is second-to-none."
Adrian will appear on Prokick's Next Generation bill - a showcase of first-time fighters - in March in Belfast.
Princes Trust at Prokick
The group then discuss the gyms ethos of Truth, Discipline and Respect as part of their course work. The UK charity helps young people overcome barriers and get their lives working. Through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance they help 14-30 year olds realise their potential and transform their lives.
Focusing their efforts on those who've struggled at school, been in care, been in trouble with the law, or are long-term unemployed. If you're 14 to 30 and feel stuck, bored, frustrated or held back, Princes Trust can help. Look into the programmes they provide and how they can help you get your life working.
Early Morning Training - Part 2
1. First up, get yourself a good alarm clock with a pleasurable wake-up call. If your alarm ring is unpleasant, you might be awakened in a crabby and uninspired mood looking for a reason not to get up.
Test-drive clocks in the store and look for a sound that suits you, most mobile phones have good alarms systems now. For me I don’t care about a nice sound I choose an alarm clock with the most annoying sound and set it out of arms way so I need to get up and turn it off before my partner Adele is awakened and gives me one of her special back hands, now that's a wake-up and half.
(Joking)
2. Have your training gear and clothes ready before you go to bed each night. Include a variety of items in case the weather changes overnight to avoid wasting time and look for excuses not to go.
3. Preparing for early morning training - Get used with wakening up at the same time every day when not training (disarm the snooze button on your alarm). Even if you choose to sit on the couch and read the newspaper or watch the news on TV even check-out the latest on ProKick.com on your PC instead of exercise, at least you are teaching your body to rise and be half conscious at this hour.
4. No dilly-dally in the morning. The more you are standing around in a dark, cozy house, the less likely you are to leave it. Wake up, get dressed, and get out the door.
5. Experiment with your pre-workout food. Figure out how little you can eat and still fit in a solid workout. Can you run 3-5 miles on an empty stomach? Can you ONLY run on an empty stomach? Some quick-and-easy foods that are usually gentle on a pre-workout stomach: banana, cereal bar, toast or yogurt. If you are doing an especially tough workout (Billy’s Boot Camp) then that requires ample fuel, give yourself enough time for your food to digest before exercising. Some people don’t eat anything before early morning train, I peronsonally, don’t take anything now, however when I was 30 years younger I could never start without my banana, cereal , or toast. This is trial on error, to see what works best for you.
6. Training with a partner I always found this hard as I have burnt out so many as they had not the same goals as myself. If you can find a friend or group to keep you accountable and motivated that’s if you are not self motivated and need company. If you are meeting outside for a walk, run or bike ride, establish conditions of weather- simple guidelines. (For example, if the weather drops below X degrees or it’s thundering outside, hit the gym or exercise at home.)
7. Explore different activities and alternate the exercise, then alternate your workouts to keep things fresh, but consistent.
8. Create an exercise plan or fitness goal so that you know what you’re working toward. Once you start seeing results, you will be more motivated to keep that alarm set on EARLY.
9. Try and have as much sleep as your body needs, your body will dictate the terms.
10. Simple, just enjoy your new found fitness and have a great day.

Sparring Class For ProKick’s Next Fighters
In spite of the cold snap, matters started heating up in the Prokick Gym in Belfast on Saturday when 22 budding students who all signed up for their first venture in competitive kickboxing - got under way
But the hard work starts now. On Monday morning, when most folk will be turning into their second sleep, the Next Generation fighters will hit the dark roads of East Belfast at 6am for the beginning of Boot Camp - week one.

Six people were on the missing list - that is their first strike, " two strikes and you are OUT". Said Murray
Early Morning Training
Why Work Out in the Morning?
There are plenty of benefits to physical activity first thing in the morning.
"Early morning workouts revs up your metabolism, jump start your energy level and accelerate your ability to burn up calories," said an exercise physiologist.
"Early morning workouts give you a chance to put the world on hold for an hour and think about the upcoming events and activities of the day, or think about whatever you want," said Murray. "Exercise also gets the endorphins flowing, so when you finish you are relaxed and in a good form to start the rest of your day."
Other Sports experts also agree the benefits of early morning exercise far outweigh the extra risks you may face.
"In our cardiac rehabilitation programs, experts don't see any increased risk from morning exercise," reported Gordon Blackburn, program director of cardiac rehabilitation. "Just be sure if you have heart disease that you first talk over any early morning exercise plans with your doctor."
There are plenty of practical reasons for choosing early morning workouts.
"If I make myself get up early in the morning and get into the fitness center or hit the road by as early as 4.30 a.m. to get my workout done, I don't have to worry about how I'm going to find the time during the rest of the day to exercise," said Mr Hopkins, a long-time runner and veteran of 65 marathons and accomplished distance runner.
"More and more people are finding the benefit of exercising before starting work and that’s no bad thing - they can’t all be wrong. I’ve been early morning training from nearly 35 years on and off when it is as regular as clock-work im in the best shape in mind and in body and that starts the day off on a positive note before I head into work. I really think the psychological and physiological benefits outweigh minuses," Said Billy Murray a four time four weight world kickboxing champion.
Billy Murray sees to it that the doors of the ProKick Gym open before 5:45 a.m. and supervises the members and wannabe fighters to start at 6 am sharp.

Happy New Year ProKick Surfers
Our web-site ProKick.com is now Northern Ireland’s most visited sporting web-site, knocking the socks off more established main-stream sport web-sites and we are now ranked within the top 30th web-sites in the North of Ireland. We are also proud of our world ranking which is well under the 300 thousand mark and grows in popularity daily.
“It’s exceeded my expectations,” said ProKick founder and Irish Kickboxing lynchpin Billy Murray.
“I have always thought that at ProKick we lead rather than follow. We had a very good functioning site 10 years ago - before most organisations really even thought of it.
And a decade on, we wanted to have the best sporting site in the country – and I think we are very close to that now. It’s more interactive, there is space for all sorts of audio and visual and it’s the most important one-stop space for news and information about kickboxing, Irish Boxing and MMA events in Ireland and beyond.”
He added: “Anyone who goes to prokick.com gets a wonderful site and up-to-date news.”
Thanks from everyone here at ProKick.com for helping us make the number No.1 spot for Sports web-sites in Northern Ireland
Have a Happy and healthy and a great 2010
Billy Murray
Peter McDonagh A Promising Boxer
"My parents are from Ireland and I go back frequently so it's going to be a hard one beating up on him," said Gavin, who is 5-0 in the paid ranks.
"But I'm sure McDonagh won't be feeling the same and it will be on his mind to stop me and make a name for himself.
"McDonagh is experienced, he's beating Michael Gomez and has won and challenged for plenty of domestic titles so it's a great test for me at this stage of my career.
"But I stopped all my opponents in 2009 so I aim to continue in the same manner throughout 2010 and become an exciting attraction like Ricky Hatton and Naseem Hamed."
No Kidding Stevie
Stevie continuned to say: " I really enjoy my time at Prokick where I’ve met some really good friends.
Friends that I never thought I’d have, from all over Belfast, Northern Ireland and beyond. And it’s thanks to Mr Murray and Prokick, they made it all happen.
I enjoy teaching the skills that I’ve learnt to the kids that come to my class.
Some of the biggest kicks I get out of teaching kickboxing is seeing the kids progress, it really means something to me. When I see kids coming into the room not knowing anyone, standing with other kids around them but feeling embarrassed because they can’t do the moves properly yet after a couple of weeks those same kids are jumping up and down and can’t wait for next week’s class.
One of the delights on a personal front thing for me was seeing my eldest daughter, Morgan progressing and achieving her yellow belt. From she was 4years old she has been wanting to go to kickboxing. I told her she couldn’t until she was 6 years old. Sometimes I had to sneak out of the house or she would go into a fit. It’s not easy being me you know. Now she loves it, I’m just pleased she and a lot of other kids are getting the chance to do something like this. My other daughter Rihanna, I’m sure will want to start kickboxing but it’s a long way off, she’s only one year old, haha. I think the world of my two children.
My only regret is that I didn’t start kickboxing a good bit earlier in life, the years I’ve wasted standing about street corners drinking carry-outs, messing about and getting into trouble when I could’ve been kickboxing, doing something with my life -who knows where I could be now, what a waste.
So that’s why I enjoy teaching kickboxing, giving the kids in my area the chances that I never had.
Each time a student of mine makes a grading I get the buzz, like the feeling I’ve just won a fight, it really means a lot to me seeing the kids progress, getting more confident and learning the sport of kickboxing.
I am hoping to get back into the ring sometime soon as I’ve been out though illness with vertigo, not nice.
So that’s all for now I hope you enjoyed reading a little about how I got started and what the sport means to me.
I will upgrade this as I move on through the sport."
Bye for now,
Stevie Kidd
Scott Belshaw Vs Larry Olubamiwo
Certainly, Belshaw will not lack motivation given that Olubamiwo is promoted by Maloney, with whom he used to work.
Indeed, Maloney is well aware that his former protégé will be determined to make him like foolish.
"Belshaw has critics but can hit," the diminutive Londoner commented. "I promoted him early on and had real hopes, but our relationship never really worked out.
"It is a big chance for him to prove me wrong for giving him his contract back.
"He has lost a couple recently but that was against Tyson Fury and Audley Harrison. If Larry does as good a job then he deserves to be up there."
5 years to go Max
He also suggested that Max's grandfather had better do a little bit of exercise as he looks out of shape. The once lightweight competitior, now heavyweight has had one too many mince pies over the festive season.
Badr Hari Vs Mourad Bouzidi – Its Showtime
25 year old Mourad "The Silent Power" Bouzidi is a professional Dutch-Tunisian Heavyweight kickboxer and martial artist, fighting out of Team Kamakura/Team Aerts in The Hague, Netherlands.
He is the current Dutch Heavyweight WFCA kickboxing champion and K-1 Grand Prix finalist.
On the same fight card, Romanian Daniel Ghita will face Bosnian Dzevad Poturak.
Other world class fighters entering the ring are Gago Drago, Panjonsuk, Anderson ‘Braddock’ Silva, Tomas Rhon and Ondrej ‘Spejbl’ Hutnik.
It Was Dynamite At K1 Event - Results
In the first of 9 DREAM Vs. SRC Team Battle fights, Olympic silver medallist in Judo, Izumi Hiroshi stepped in the ring to face, Katsuyori Shibata. Despite this being a judo vs. pro-wrestler bout, almost the entire fight was spent with both fighters trying to out box the other. Shibata through some nice knees and a few high kick as well. Both fighters had the other in trouble at times, but didn’t quite have enough to make a finish. In the final minutes of the third round Izumi took Shibata down after a hard flurry, moved to full mount and pounded him until the round ended. Coupled with his standing Izumi had done enough to be awarded the decision.
K-1 veteran Ray Sefo’s returned to the ring in Japan to face local ex- boxing champion, Nishijima. Both fighters are well known for their fast and heavy hands. In the first round Ray’s jab seemed to be too quick for Nishijima, along with some heavy low kicks. Second and third round both seemed to enjoy showing the crowd that they could take and give hard head shots from each other. Nishijima got caught with an over hand right, from Sefo which dropped him for an eight-count. Ray Sefo took home a comfortable decision.
Masato, Japan Silver Wolf Vs Andy Souwer Holland / Shooto Boxing Holland
Masato, the most successful kickboxer Japan has ever produced, has finally decided to hang up his gloves after beating Andy Souwer on points over 5x3 min rounds.
A retirement ceremony was then held for the man of the moment. He was presented with a huge canvas filled with well-wishes from his fans, as well as flowers and a pair of golden gloves from Event Producer Tanikawa. With his wife in tears beside him, he thanked his fans for their support, as well as K-1 staff. Andy Souwer also offered him a plaque, and his son gave him a pair of clogs. He then wished the audience a Happy New Year before spending a good deal of time signing autographs for the thousands of fans crowding the entrance.

A Message From The WKN
We wish you and all your family a very Merry Christmas along with health and happiness for 2010.
Kickboxing Santa
The ‘PROKICK SAYS’ children’s competition day was another resounding success. Over 50 underage talents took part in the event aimed at improving fitness, discipline and co-ordination.
The fun day also gives young kickboxers an opportunity to experience competition using their martial art skills.
Prokick coach Billy Murray said: “Underage members are not allowed to compete in full-contact kickboxing until they are 15 years of age. So, from the age of six they are learning the art of kickboxing but not the application.
“I want to give the young members an opportunity to put their skills into practice, mixing competition with fun. The idea stems from a game we have played for many, many years at the gym, Prokick Says, our version of Simple Simon Says and who would believe that we’re on our twenty-third kids competition!.
“We have rolled a number of games into one big occasion and the kids love it. Everyone was a winner and everyone went home with a medal. It’s important to us at Prokick Gym that children learn about self-discipline, self-defence and grow up in a respected and disciplined environment.”
"I can’t believe we managed to secure Santa as Special guest of honour especially at this time of year when he is at his busiest, thanks again Santa from all at the ProKick Kickboxing school of excellence in Northern Ireland."
As Santa reminded everyone at the Prokick club that next month is the start of the yearly final of ‘Prokick Says’ and there will be special guests and lots of medals and trophies to win. Murray may even invite Mr Claus next year in 2010 to take part in the 19th year of ‘Prokick Says’ competition. And who knows Santa may even win a medal.
Me And My Son
The proud Dad Mr McGreevy continued to say -
Little Alex, after several months of spending his Saturday mornings on Wilgar Street, finally stood among his fellow students last weekend for the daunting test that rewards with a first step onto the martial art ladder of recognition.
I don't know why his mum and I were so anxious - he was cool, calm and collected - and supremely confident in the knowledge of the skills he had atoned via Mr Murray's second-to-none tutoring.
After 45 minutes of punching, kicking, bobbing and weaving, Alex, 6, strode proudly out of the humble Prokick surrounds with certificate in hand and belt around his waist.
By Monday morning he was repeatedly asking: "What belt is next? and "Can I go to more classes?"
"I'll tell you what's next," I said, "I need to get more belts or you will be teaching me new tricks!"
Inspired by Alex Jnr, that's next on daddy's agenda.
I've been a member of Prokick for seven years - ever since Mr Murray berated me into giving kickboxing a column in the Sunday People newspaper.
In return, he gave me the best kickbox coaching in the country - and introduced me to the close-knit Prokick community.
That's a community I am proud to be part of - and proud that my son is now a member of it.
Next up is my daughter. As I already have, poor Mr Murray will meet his match in her.

Le Grande Grading
Kickboxing mad students from the age of 6- 66 years-old arrived at the ProKick headquarters to go through the ProKick exams with a series of tests covering different aspects from the sport which will hopefully elevate them to the next level covering belts from Yellow, Orange and Green right up to the last brown belt.
A grading is when Kickboxing students, non-contact and contact, are assessed through a series of levels / grades, with the base level being White Belt, through ten levels, finally reaching a Dan grade at black belt, which is equivalent, if you like, to a degree level in KickBoxing. This type of achievement would take, on average, between six and eight years with a training regime of on average of three to four times a week.
If you would like to get involved in kickboxing and attempt to climb the ladder of Kickboxing excellence you are welcome to sign up to ProKick's next beginners course starting January 5th for more information click here or call 028 9065 1074
